Sunday Summary from Tom the Taxi Driver
Hey , welcome back to my Sunday Summary, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
🏖️ A holiday!:Snowboarding - Val Thorens, France.I’ve been finally able to get back on the slopes after almost 2 years! Luckily choosing the correct country in lieu of recent EU lockdowns, albeit lots of Covid tests, but worth it.Snowboarding was something that I learnt once I got my badge in the taxi. It is a freedom I feel I never would have been able to experience in my old job (limitations in budget and getting time off work). I went on my first ski trip in 2019, I remember nearly passing out on the chairlift, overwhelmed by the amazing scenery and having a board dangling from my foot. Since then I’ve made it a priority to always get away. I’m a big believer in Ramit Sethi’s Money Dial (I Will Teach you to be rich) concept, whereby if there’s something that you really enjoy in life then you should ramp up spending in that area. The fresh air of the alps, the clear blue skies, white snow covering every surface in sight. It quite literally is the closest thing to heaven in my mind.📖 What I'm reading:Do Not Pass Go - Tim MooreThis book follows a Londoner, exploring London but with the monopoly board in mind. It certainly provokes a lot of thought and illuminates some changes in areas that pre-date my exposure to London. Judging by the references and observations I’d date it as approximately 2005. The quest for the author to find out the rationale behind the monopoly board leads to some hilarious encounters, I won’t spoil it for you.🎧 What I'm listening to:WWE Line in the Sand (Evolution) - MotorheadI don’t know why, but Motörhead is somehow perfect snowboarding music. Must be Lemmy’s gnarly bass lines.
Paraphrased punter (from the taxi):“If all vehicles must have zero tailpipe emissions by 2035, the rationale of building cycle lanes to reduce emissions is flawed. Every vehicle will be electric.”
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to reach out to me with your; comments, concerns or just general conversation. I'd love to know what you're up to or what you might be working on! 📝😁Have a great week everyone!Tom
