Sunday Summary from Tom the Taxi Driver
Hey , Welcome back to my Sunday Summary, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
💂♂️☕ A London (coffee) experience:Rosslyn Coffee (Queen Victoria Street) - City of LondonOne way I’m exploring London is through independent coffee shops. Wether it’s the aesthetic, the choice of music, the calm and environment, there’s just something about stepping off a busy London street and into a quiet coffee shop. Albeit a bit expensive, but a beautiful cortado, and on a bright day has this perfect sun trap outside of St Nicholas Cole Abbey (a wren church which also has a coffee shop inside)📺 What I'm watching:Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order - Ray DalioThis is an illuminating watch. I’m a big fan of the former video: How The Economic Machine Works. Dalio has extensively studied civilisations and empires across the centuries and what charts their rise and fall.I won’t give away too much, but it you’re interested in the idea of a "New World Order” or economics and even history of recent empires, this is a great and very enjoyable watch.
📖 I'm currently listening to (audiobook):
How to Live - 27 Conflicting Answers and One Weird Conclusion - Derek SiversThis book was inspired by Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives. A fictional piece that explores hypothetical afterlives. To give you some background, Derek Sivers sold a successful internet retail company, and writes heavily on the subject of living. I look to him for inspiration of how to live, whilst there is no one direct answer (as his book clearly proves) there are certainly lots of different ways I hadn’t explored or seen the benefits of. These examples are pushed to the nth degree and should be seen as a thought provoking exercise rather than a self help/actionable book.
🎧 On heavy rotation:Boom Boom Room (feat. Ill Literate) - Applied ScienceSuch a fun and catchy beat. So glad to see Applied Science live last week just outside of Newport (alongside Catalysts and The Kennedy Soundtrack who I've previously featured on this Sunday Summary)New on YouTube this week
