๐ Tom's Sunday Summary - 17th December 2023

Hey , welcome back to
The Sunday Summary
, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
๐ A life update/new years resolution:With all my projects completed for the year, I'm having a bit of time to focus and reflect on how 2023 went, and what I want to change and optimise for in 2024. Of course this times in very well with my travel plans also, but broadly I have a few areas of focus.
๐ฅฐ To be warm and energisingThis was highlighted to me in the podcast below. At first I thought โwarm?โ You mean like being a nice guy? But really itโs about aspiring to be the warm guy that people want to be around. In my pursuit to crank out YouTube videos and work in the taxi, Im very time focussed and forgive a lot of social situations in the pursuit of more work. As a result, Iโm quite โget in and get outโ. No one really remembers you for the amount of videos you crank out, or how often you say no to social situations so you can work on yourself. They remember how you made them feel.
๐ To read more fiction booksI read one fiction book last year, Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I really want to be absorbed into something rather than live in the constant state of productivity purgatory (as coined by Chris Williamson).I'd love to know any of your recommendations, science fiction with as minimal characters as possible please!โ๏ธ Have more gaps/pausesMy pack out my to-do list. The available compartments in my taxi. Even the editing of my YouTube videos! I've also noticed it in my speech, constantly moving for fear that the gap/pause will be interrupted or people will lose interest. It is these gaps or pauses that are most crucial in life. Resting between sets in the gym. Sleeping. Leaving space in a conversation for points to hit home. Taking a breather before moving onto the next task. These aren't slots to fill, but natural pauses to recharge or digest! Leading on to...
๐ฉบ To prioritise healthMy change in life circumstances have meant I've been burning the candle at both ends with regards to sleep. This then of course has a knock on effect of bad diet which then affects any potential gym plans.Health should be the bedrock of everything, because ultimately it is. Every good experience or life moment we get to enjoy can only be experienced (and or augmented) by being optimal and health"A healthy man wants a thousand things, a sick man only wants one." Confucius ๐ญ A free resource helping me to clarify my thinking:Clearer ThinkingSpurred on from the above, I spent a small portion of time using some of the great resources and questionnaires on the Clearer Thinking website. These help to untangle some of my thought processes and see them from a different angle. Improving my decision making and reasoning.
๐๏ธ A podcast I'm loving:How To Stop Procrastinating For Good - Ali Abdaal (Modern Wisdom)Ali Abdaal is the single biggest reason why I got into YouTube. And even to this day he provides an enviable blueprint of how to succeed on the platform. What I love is his journey and how it has adapted with his growth. Heโs been featured on a few podcasts, and while he acknowledges that money is a nice to have benefit of what he does, heโs great at breaking down what he truly would want to do in life if money was no object. Itโs a great question to routinely ask yourself; โIf I won the lottery, how would I spend my time?โHis answer, learn, synthesise and teach. I guess mine is similar, drive around London and share topics that matter to me, maybe longer form documentary format (who knows what the new year might hold).
๐ณ๐พโโ๏ธ๐ King Reg Cab needs your support!:Buy Me a Coffee - King RegKing Reg (the driver from the epic $10,000 Yestheory taxi journey) spends his time providing free community transport for lonely and sick people across London. He does this out of his own time and budget, but needs your help to keep his mission active. If you do donate, please share a comment about what the London Taxi means to you!
