🗞️ Tom's Sunday Summary - 21st August 2022
Hey , Welcome back to
The Sunday Summary
, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
🚕 I'm working on new tour packages:Delivering a quick impromptu tour to some American ladies who made the mistake of asking “what is that?” gesturing to the Eleanor cross statue in Charing Cross station forecourt. I soon realised just how much I miss engaging with people in person over unique items in London.I initially paused tours so I could focus on YouTube and largely losing interest in repeating the same route and spiel at each site (something akin to a rock star doing exactly the same show in each new city I guess). So in order to combat this, I'm crafting a unique tour, more suited to the curiosities I find fascinating in London. If you are interested in booking a future tour with me, or if there’s an area of London you’d love to know more about, please reach out to me (reply to this email) and I’ll keep you personally updated.🚰 A purchase that's changing my life:Fuel24 Jug - 2.2 Litre Water BottleYou may remember from my “What’s in my taxi video” that I always carry lots of water. Not just for at working but generally in life. The issue. Juggling 2 bottle ones (one still and one sparkling), it’s just a lot of faff when I go to work. And whilst one is a sports bottle, it still requires me to tilt my head to drink (not always easy when seated in the cab).So I purchased a 2L hydrator bottle. You may have seen these by gym goers, and I used to have a half gallon one years ago (I subsequently binned it as it didn’t have a mouth piece and the drinking aperture was far too wide!) What’s epic about this bottle is not just its size, but the fact that is has a straw and leakproof design. Super handy in the cab. So far I have been smashing my daily drinking target of 2 litres. Only downside is that I’m taking far more journeys to the Iron Lung to empty the bladder!📖 An audio book I'm listening to:The Compound Effect - Multiply Your Success One Simple Step at a Time (Darren Hardy)This has been a reassuring listen. At 154 days, this is my longest in my life I have not drunk alcohol (you may remember that I previously gave up for an extended period of time, but alas this was not successful). Not because there’s an “alcohol problem” per se. But it just doesn’t fit within my stage of life currently. It does not promote the goals I want to achieve and the person I wish to become. So The Compound Effect, it is largely a book demonstrating that small habit changes add up to a huge difference over time! Something I experienced in many domains (The Knowledge, Gaining weight with too much fried chicken at university, and a Low carb diet to lose the aforementioned fried chicken fat). When I stopped drinking there was an expectation to think that something radical would change with my life, well it didn’t. But only as the months roll by do I still the results in the form of, one more extra workout a week, better performance on the bike, feeling more refreshed and less need for caffeine as a result of poor sleep.I’m super excited to see where this leads and what small changes can lead to huge results in the long term. Also it's included free with Audible membership (no credit required)🙏 A huge shout-out to yFood:yFoodI've had a pretty intensive week, this week. One of those weeks where you always seem to be moving, doing something and the only days that exist are Monday and Sunday (the days in-between are a bit of a blur). yFood has helped me to keep my nutrition in check when I haven't had chance to prepare. Also a huge thank you to everyone who has purchased (or will be purchasing) yFood using my discount code TAXI10 Not only is their product fantastic, but yFood as a company have been incredibly supportive of my YouTube channel. It's crazy to believe they have been sponsoring over a year (including during the stressful time when I had to pull a lot of videos over TfL issues). I can honestly say, that without their support (products and financially) I would have had far less time to invest in the success of the channel.🎧 What I'm listening to (as I write this):Illusions - Minos (Liquid D&B)📹 New On YouTube this week:
