🗞 Tom's Sunday Summary - 24th September 2023

Hey , welcome back to
The Sunday Summary
, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
💂🏻♀️ A London experience:North London Buddhist CentreThis was the only other experience I managed to nab as part of Open House London. It’s one of those places you always pass and think “Oh I wonder what it’s like in there”. Well as you might imagine, almost like a bare yoga studio but with multiple statues of Buddha’s. Very interesting to learn that the building is relatively modern, the old 18th century building of the same style was pulled down in the 1970’s. Very intrigued to attend some of their drop in sessions.
📺 A YouTube CollaborationFaultlineI forgot to mention this one last week, I was approached by Andy and his assistant Mack of Faultline - Humanity understood through Geography. It is a spectacular documentary channel on YouTube, I’ve already learnt so much from their videos, as well as great tips to excel at YouTube, Andy has a background within documentary production so it was valuable to learn how he has adapted this craft to the platform of YouTube. In terms of our episode, he is seeking to understand how London, a capital that was never designed with cars in mind, has adapted and what the future holds for it.Due to go live in October, I will keep you all updated if you haven't already subscribed to their channel!👨🏼🏫 A project that's taken a lot of hours:The London No Traffic Light ChallengeI did a small version of this years ago. Traveling across 4 London boroughs without the use of a single traffic light (excluding pedestrian crossings as they green by default until a pedestrian presses it). For months I’ve been working on Google earth, trying to map out all of the 18 London boroughs featured on The Knowledge and if there was a way to cover all of them without a traffic light. In short. There isn’t, but with a rule/restriction, I have still made it a fun challenge. In essence, each borough I visit means I gain a “traffic light pass”. I only get one of these from each borough, as soon as I cross into the borough boundary. The idea being that I can collect “traffic light passes” and save these up for tricky boroughs like Hackney (I lose a lot of passes here!). I’ve got just 5 more boroughs to go on this, and I can’t wait to get out and begin filming it!
