🌴 Tom's Sunday Summary - 25th February 2024

Hey , welcome back to

The Sunday Summary

, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.

🇻🇳 ➡️ 🇰🇭 Travel Update:Over the last week I’ve been in Da Nang, probably one of my highlights of Vietnam.  Largely because it had the ideal mix of everything. Was fairly built up and modernised, great weather but no absurdly hot, beaches, and not too chaotic!  Some fantastic eateries and a plethora of coffee shops.  I firmly settled into a routine of gym and a bit of laptop work which was awesome!

Whilst I was there, I travelled the elusive Hai Van pass. Went to Hoi An ancient city, but admittedly more crowded than I hoped, that’s evenings for you I guess.  Spent a day in Da Lat before having an incredibly short stay in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).  It’s safe to say I’m fully over cities on this trip.  Great for a bit, but only on short doses.

SE Asian cities are a completely different kettle of fish compared with European cities.  It’s just chaos. An assault on just about every sense, logistically difficult as you navigate broken paving and scooters parked just about everywhere. A 30 minute walk through Ho Chi Minh might as well be a 2 hour walk in London for the amount of stress and mental capacity it takes.

I’m currently on a flight to Sihanoukville, south Cambodia as I’m headed to the island of Koh Rong.

🌴 Moments of thought and reflection:"One word stands between you and your dream life.No."The power is saying no is hugely underrated. And whilst this concept certainly isn't new, I am proud to have made this pithy quote.Effectively all the dream scenarios in my life have come from saying no.  No to the extra drink so you can get home and sleep properly, No to watching mindless TV so you can focus on your side hustle. No to dessert so you can stay in great shape.  It's never the yes or abiding that drives the change, but rather opting out of a bad decision.📺  What I'm Watching:Simpsons Mysteries - 742 Evergreen TerraceThis fascinating video breaks down the layout of the Simpsons house.  It’s something I never really thought about and took for granted whilst watching years ago. Amazing how it varies to suit the plot, or even parts of the house that exist but are rarely used (like the rumpus room).

A huge shoutout to:

A huge congratulations to my friend Josh Leech who started on YouTube and is already at his first 1000 subscribers in under a month! (It took me around 8 months. With the YouTube average at 15 months!). If you are into DIY, satisfying workshop timelapse’s etc, then I highly recommend viewing. It’s an absolute wiz with anything metal. And he does a fantastic job of breaking everything down.  Well worth a watch!
