๐ Tom's Sunday Summary - 27th August 2023

Hey , welcome back to
The Sunday Summary
, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
In recent weeks, Iโve been struggling to enjoy being present. I have plenty of variety and novelty in my life and work. 3 days in the cab, 2 days in the office, gym twice a week, a day off with friends/family and bike riding once a week. Whilst currently running at the most sustainable cadence in recent years (balanced sleep, health, work, could maybe increase my social volume!). I still feel as though my life is running on fast forward. Iโm not actually able to savour those minute moments that make up life. So it comes as no surprise, that the majority of this weekโs email is content centred around being less busy, or observing life.
๐ ๐ A London experience:Tyre check with ENSO TyresENSO Tyre's graciously supplied me with their super sexy range extending tyres at the beginning of the year. As part of their development, they've taken some data (in-depth!) from real working London taxis, including mine.I've covered just over 20,000 miles and we were pleased to see relatively even wear across all 4 tyres (including that dreaded nearside front!). Dozens of measures and weights of wheels taken! Huge testament to their dedication of refining the product!I also learnt, that the branding on the inside of the tyre is; "Breath In, Breath Out". I think I love them even more now! ๐ง๐ผ๐If you are in the market for new tyres, they have a speedy service at the EV Service Hub in Tottenham and can be booked here; http://www.enso.london/๐บ A video I'm enjoyingDesigning Urban Places that Donโt SuckFound this super interesting, particularly that some of the most interesting spaces resemble rooms. Or that there are proportions and ratios at play to make them aesthetically pleasing. A great watch, thought surprisingly London doesnโt seem to make an appearance.
๐ A book I'm reading:The Miracle Of Mindfulness: The Classic Guide - Thich Nhat HanhI previously subscribed to Waking Up by Sam Harris. Feeling a bit cheap to renew at ยฃ120 for the year. I sought wisdom in more traditional formats.First chapter of Thich Hat Hanhโs classic; are you washing the dishes to wash the dishes?, or washing the dishes to be somewhere else?. Are you drinking the coffee or are you already in the future and onto the next task? Powerful mental reframes!๐ฐ A blog post also changing my framing on "being busy":How to Escape the Busy Trap - Sahil Bloom
๐ฌ A quote I'm pondering:
โMost people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.โ Bill Gates
