The Sunday Summary
Hey , welcome to the Sunday Summary, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
๐บ What Iโm listening to:"The Year of Living Danishly: Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country" - Helen Russell.Sometimes with working in the cab, staying up late to work on the YouTube channel, or even at midday on a Saturday composing this email! It can feel like work is always on, that there is no "work/life balance" (If you believe in that). This book shares the unique insight of a London couple who move to the remote village of Billund, Denmark, and just how different their life is. Listening to the author describe what is effectively a utopia just feels me with so much pleasure, and makes me question, am I doing it right? From; shorter working weeks, more time to spend with friends and family, joining clubs/associations and generally just "living life". It sounds like a dream utopia and really makes me question what I actually want from life. I highly recommend it.๐ Small world moment:You might remember from my 6th June Sunday Summary that I had a professor of brain health in the taxi (so much that I felt compelled to buy his book "Supercharge Your Brain: How to Maintain a Healthy Brain Throughout Your Life" - Professor James Goodwin)Browsing Instagram today, I came across London cabbie and illustrator; Glen Marquis (Be Lucky Designs) who actually had his work featured in Professor James' book! I thought this was such a nice touch! as there is a section in the book where the 2011 study of London cabbies brain growth is referenced (London cabbies hippocampus region in the brain actually grows larger throughout the course of studying The Knowledge of London).๐ป Something for the weekend:This Sunday (or today at the time you may be reading this). I will have competed in the UK National Trials biking competition in DerbyI am actually awful when it comes to riding my bike in this setting, but it's always a fun day to see plenty of riders push themselves and go out of their comfort zone (definitely the latter for me).Definitely not expecting podium results but if I can get through a few sections I will be happy ๐ Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to reach out to me with your; comments, concerns or just general conversation. I'd love to know what you're up to or what you might be working on! ๐๐Have a great week everyone!Tom
