Sunday Summary from Tom the Taxi Driver
Hey , welcome back to my Sunday Summary, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
🇬🇧 London experience of the week:No Comply - Somerset HouseNo Comply is an exhibition dedicated to skateboarding.I used to skateboard in my youth and grew up with the Tony Hawks games. It’s definitely shaped my life and through various events, culminated in me taking up biking and the style of riding I now do (you can see this on my Instagram or The Shin Dig YouTube). It was an interesting exhibit that explores the feelings/livlihood associated with skating. I believe you can achieve this level of flow or euphoria with just about any sport/extreme sport like this and makes me feel so fortunate that I have this outlet in my life. It's free to visit and runs until 21 September 2021📚 What I'm re-reading:Anyone Can Do It: My Story - Duncan BannatyneI first read this book back in 2014. I love Bannatyne’s no nonsense approach to life and business, having grown up so poor in Scotland that his parents couldn’t afford ice cream on a hot day, to not even owning a bank account until he was 31! It is just full of twists and turns, with plenty of life and business lessons.I’m re-reading it as there’s plenty of gems I can recall which I feel are appropriate to my life and growth right now. It’s like the classic Steve Jobs quote of connecting the dots, I'll include this below📜 A Quote I'm pondering:
"Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever."
Steve Jobs, 2005. Stanford commencement address (I suggest watch the full speech on YouTube if you haven't already!)🙏🏻 A big thanks to:YFood - Smart Food Not Junk FoodYFood will be sponsoring my channel again in September. Their meal replacement shakes have been a life save for me, both in the taxi and on the go. If you've not checked them out, they are complete meal, great balance of carbs and protein. Gluten free, lactose free and best of all SUPER tasty! They are just like the classic Yazoo milkshake, only healthy. In an ideal world, meal prep or a decent meal comes first, but YFood fills in the gaps where I fall short on preps or having time to stop for a substantial meal.If you're interest, using my link or code: TAXI10 will get you 10% off your order.📺 This week on YouTube:
Bishopsgate bus gate, is it that BAD?
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to reach out to me with your; comments, concerns or just general conversation. I'd love to know what you're up to or what you might be working on! 📝😁Have a great week everyone!Tom
