Sunday Summary from Tom the Taxi Driver
Hey , Welcome back to my Sunday Summary, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
💂♂️ A London experience:Sapori's is open in the evenings again! My favourite evening eatery. Since the 2020 lockdown, Sapori's had only been operating in the daytime, and sadly it just didn't fit with my working routine. Recently it's extended opening hours to late evening on a few set days. I struggled to get parked there on Thursday. From this week (Mon 31st January) it will be open in the evening for the whole week. It is just beautiful Italian food, affordable, friendly service and has the wonderful bustle. It's very popular amongst cabbies and you may have to wait or share a table, but definitely worth it!📺 What I've been watching:The Street - Amazon Prime Video (Get a Free Trial here)A documentary about the generational changes in Hoxton Street. It's sad, moving and incredibly raw. Capturing different aspects of life on The Street, and how many of the old institutions just disappear overnight. It feels long in places, but appropriate to show the juxtaposition. A real refreshing documentary if you're fed up of the tightly formatted Netflix junk.🎧 On heavy rotation:Civil War - Guns N' RosesI habitually listen to the same 3 Guns N' Roses songs that everyone knows, but never really explored their albums. This is from their 1991 album Use Your Illusion II and it's mega. There's something about uncovering music that has been available for decades but unknown to you (would love to know if there's a word that encapsulates this).Just how it can move your live but also that weird feeling how it may or may not have fitted into your live say 10 years before.☕ A bonus:My best flat white art of the weekI think the incredibly dark beans from Whittard's assisted in this (thanks mum!)
