🚖 🚫 No I will not be joining Uber:Uber launches Black Cab Sign UpsFrom January 2024 Uber are allowing London cabbies to join their platform.I’ve had a few comments and emails on this asking for my opinion. It’s fairly simple.  In 2012 this was the company that had no regard for the taxi trade and fortunately their initial taxi recruitment process was a failure.  They needed us to help grow their market share.Fast forward, Uber has certainly grown.  But my opinion now is that Uber wants to be an Amazon of transportation.  They are partnered with trains, boats, scooters, bikes and of course private hire.  By taxi drivers staying opted out, it ensures they will not be able to create a transport monopoly.  It will make our USP’s even stronger by not being associated with the app.This is a company that has shown no regard for its employees/drivers (yes I say employees because it’s been defined in law that Uber drivers are employees).  This is the same company that has shown little regard for the wellbeing of its passengers. This is the company that make a mockery of the UK tax system.  This is a company that has no regard for safety.London taxi’s are synonymous with passenger safety, expert knowledge and regulated fares set by Transport for London.  The antithesis of what Uber has proven over the last decade.  The stance is clear.  Any cabbie who has sacrificed their life to gain their elusive badge, will not want to be aligned with this sham of a company.  It is even timed for January, a notoriously quiet time in the trade.  And who knows what other levers they might be trying to pull behind the scenes, as a trade we must unify and ensure that we are not corrupted by this mess of a company.👨🏼‍💻 In the works on YouTube:Early morning shift videoThis month I have a banger of a shift video for you!I got out bed early to see what working a morning was like! Drop me an email if you are interested to know more!  It will be available for 3 months but the potential for a longer term rental if required!🎧 A podcast I'm loving:How to Destroy Your Negative Beliefs - Jordan Peterson (Modern Wisdom)I normally podcast at 1.5x speed.  But with Peterson, it has to be 1x.  It's so densely packed with nuggets and gems.  It's over 3 hours long but once you factor in the amount of times you will be skipping back it's 4 hours plus of gold.  Chris Williamson is easily the best podcaster out there, an enviable amount of knowledge and wisdom!💿 On heavy rotation:Logilo Mixtape vol.2 Face AI have no idea how I came across this, but I'm forever glad that I did.  Just endless beats, loops and iconic samples!
