Sunday Sum - 3rd Oct

šŸ‘ The Sunday Summary - 3rd October 2021

Sunday Summary from Tom the Taxi Driver

Hey , welcome back to my Sunday Summary, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.

ā˜• A London experience:Lo-Fi Coffee - Crouch EndI love visiting the Crouch End area as it makes me feel like Iā€™m Shaun in Shaun of the Dead at times (lots of the film was filmed here, he was 29 and lived in a house share with disfunctional characters, great film if you havenā€™t seen it).Anyways, the coffee shop. Wow I love simple and intentional spaces, it is the perfect size and has a warmth that radiates from it. And as the name suggests, they play LoFi music or instrumental beats, my perfect studying tunes.   Meaning that, if I forget to bring my headphones, it is the perfect ambience for work!  I canā€™t wait to return and endeavour to make it a weekly habit.šŸŽµšŸ“š Audiobook I'm listening to:David Goggins - Canā€™t Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the OddsFor anyone who feel like they are in a rut, feels weak, or maybe youā€™re playing the victim in your life. This is a huge eye opener! You might know David Goggins from his Instagram or socials where he is shouting whilst running ultra marathons, mantras like ā€œstay hardā€.  Very easy to believe ā€œoh thatā€™s easy for you to sayā€.

Plenty of examples from his past illuminate that we have so much capacity for more.  For instance, how he believed he could run a 100 mile run without any previous training or preparation. His body was pretty much done at the half way mark, but he shares his mental insight as to how he managed to complete the entire race!    Then providing the lesson. ā€œIf I could complete this without training, imagine how much better I could be with the correct preparationā€.Thereā€™s lots of mental models I have already adapted to my exercise routine, and I canā€™t wait to implement more within my work.

šŸ“š What I'm reading:The Undercover Economist - Tim HarfordI like understanding basic economic concepts (for instance, why would 2 rival coffee shops open next door to one another).  So I purchased this book as a way of opening my mind to more of these revelations.Iā€™m currently understanding why the congestion charging zone is actually the most efficient method of charging or penalising drivers for driving their vehicle into a congested area.  As apposed to raising fuel prices, providing a voucher scheme etc. I hope to be able to share more as I progress through.āœØ Coming Soon:Book reviews - On my websiteIt is no surprise to those of you who frequently read my Sunday summary that I love reading.  By consolidating my insights from the book into a review, it helps the key messages stick in my mind. To quote Jim Kwik; ā€œWhen I teach something I get to learn it twiceā€.

Personal blogSince my downtime from YouTube (back soon I promise) I have felt the need to have an alternative medium of sharing content, thoughts and insights.  I already do this over at my Instagram, but sometimes this instant enough or is a bit too short/lacking a real message.

Iā€™d be really interested to know if thereā€™s any particular insights you would like me to share. Whether thatā€™s from the taxi, YouTube or personal life.  I believe it will be a rawer and more intimate medium that video šŸ˜Š Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to reach out to me with your; comments, concerns or just general conversation.  I'd love to know what you're up to or what you might be working on! šŸ“šŸ˜Have a great week everyone!Tom
