Sunday Sum - 8th August

👍 Tom's Sunday Summary - 8th August 2021

Sunday Summary from Tom the Taxi Driver

Hey , welcome back to my Sunday Summary, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.

🖼️ A new London experience:This week I visited Tate Britain for the first time, it's free if you're interested in going.I was particularly interested in seeing the British Art 1540-1930 collection route.  I'm slowly becoming accommodated to names in the art world of 17th-18th century, and largely the links between art and developing London.  One piece that piqued my interest was "View of a House and its Estate in Belsize, Middlesex" - Jan Siberechts. Effectively a landscape painting looking south towards London from Belsize Park.  You can't see in great detail on a computer but you can just about make out Westminster Abbey, but surprisingly no St. Pauls Cathedral.  In 1696 This would have been post great fire and pre completion of new St Pauls so could explain the anomaly, or the sight line could be slightly more west oriented. As you can see, I just love how one painting and a date can provide so much clues and insight into the landscape of London at the time.🎬 I'm still hiring (a video editor):My commitment is to get more shift videos out to you, the viewers.  It's clear how much you all enjoy them and I want to ensure I can get as many out as possible. As a result, I'm wishing to hire a part time video editor to assist in the workload, here's the details below.Part time Video editor

  • No previous experience necessary (use of FCP X or Adobe Premiere a huge benefit)

  • 8-16 hours per week - National Minimum Wage if under 23, National Living Wage if over 23.

  • Remote working (North London based for collaboration would be a huge advantage)

  • Further training and development.

This is a role that seeks to grow with the growth of the channel. With scope to become full time and branching into other areas of production.

If you're interested, just shoot an email over to

with a brief bio of what you're up to and what you believe you would suit the role.  No CV or previous experience required.

⌨️A new skill I'm trying to curate:Speed typingAs a keyboard serves the majority of our interaction with our tech, I feel the need to  be more effective with typing.Whether that's composing this email, or writing my new book 📘 (hint hint).I've been largely spurred on by other YouTube creators, and it's a very slow work in progress.I find I can hit around 55 wpm with my very bad typing technique. And can only reach 50 wpm currently with proper typing technique.I'd be interested to know if any of you have taken the time to curate better typing technique and what specifically worked best for you.

This week on YouTube:
