🗞Tom's Sunday Summary - 9th April 2023

Hey , welcome back to

The Sunday Summary

, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.

💂🏻‍♀️ A London experience:Club Soda - Drury Lane WC2Tasting room and shop in one.  This is a great place if you want to drink more mindfully, or not at all like me.I'm now over 1 year alcohol free! My reason for the visit was to sample some drinks to try and find something with a bit of "edge" to it. Just when you're in company with friends who are drinking, it's nice to have a drink that isn't consumed instantly.  Many AF beers are too sweet or easy. One bottle I will be sure to purchase is the "Kahol Admiralty Dark Spiced Rum Alternative", it had that wonderful hit and smokiness you would expect from a spiced rum, but of course without the alcohol!

🩺 A health product:

Admittedly, it’s been a little while since I’ve done one of these tests.  But these are great things to keep in check.  I’m always conscious as I lead an incredibly sedentary lifestyle, so to find any blood markers early and nip them in the bud before they come problematic.  This time round, my cholesterol is a little high so I will be focusing on that.

The best bit with the tests is that you can constantly reschedule or change what you want to be tested for. You’re not fixed into a cycle or subscription. As an example, I wanted to see the impact of a vitamin D supplement, as for some people the standard 1000iou in my tablets doesn’t quite cut it. So you can test for this more frequently.  It's super convenient, just a finger prick at home!

I'm not sponsored by them,

🎧 An audiobook I'm loving:The Price of Money: How to Prosper in a Financial World That’s Rigged Against You - Rob DixRob was a guest on the FT Money Clinic podcast (great listen if you don’t already) and his book popped up on Amazon conveniently.  It breaks down financial concepts that many of us know of, but the reasons why they exist and what is actually happening, it very simple and understandable ways.  So the idea of costs of goods “going up” is not the item going up in price, but rather the value of currency going down 🤯. Also that inflation is generally a good thing (albeit not at the current highs).  A great listen!
