🗞 Tom's Sunday Summary - 9th July 2023

Hey , welcome back to

The Sunday Summary

, a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.

🥾⛰️ A life experience:Crib Goch - SnowdonOne of those “I’ll do one day activities”.  A wonderful weekend in Wales.  Visited the pretty victorian town of Llandudno on Saturday before taking on the most technical route on Snowdon, Crib Goch.  Blessed that weather conditions were perfect, albeit a bit cloudy.  This scramble was incredible.  Plenty of sections to get the heart racing. You know what they say; “Go big or….GO BIGGER!!”

💾 A new tech purchase:SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD USB C Hard DriveIt took me a little while to realise the speed of my 1tb Lacie Rugged via USB 2.0 was probably the course of my editing software running so slow.  So I purchased an SSD.  Wow this is mind blowing.  First I was astounded at how affordable these have become, then the size!  It’s about half the size of my phone!  Why I haven’t come across these sooner!  It’s sped up my editing immensely, and great to carry in the bag🎧 A podcast episode I loved:An Unfiltered Conversation with MrBeast - Colin and SamirOne of those conversations that makes me want to drop all my current YouTube projects and start again.  So many key lessons learnt here.  My mind was blown when he spoke of the fact that YouTube is no longer just title and thumbnail.  Thanks to autoplay, the first 5 seconds of your video need to be an extension of the thumbnail!  Not sure how I can implement this, but it makes so much sense!  Inspiring stuff from the GOAT on YouTube.🧠 A mindset I've adopted:Memory DividendUp next on my reading list is Die with Zero by Bill Perkins.  I had put off this title as, I was of the belief that it does what it says on the tin. However listening with Perkins on Modern Wisdom, it made me realise that this is much more of an ethos for life as a whole. He touched on the concept of a memory dividend. In essence, the earlier in life you make/create memories, the longer you have for those to compound over a lifetime.  Every conversation/interaction you have that could lead to future opportunities. It’s already provided me with a heuristic for decisions, as an example in Llandudno we took the tram car up the hill, but then I decided to run down the hill.   Why?  Because doing the tram both ways could blur the memory into one.  Whereas running down the hill to watch the tram was a novel experience.  Strengthening the memory (also it’s something I imagine my knees would prohibit in future decades) and thus giving me an asset to become a memory dividend.🎞️ In the can:A shift starting from Wimbledon TennisA shift involving British Summer time Hyde ParkI will be filming more food in London!  Specifically; independent chippies in Zone 1/2, and the best sandwich shop in London (zone 1, 2 or 3).  Would love to know your suggestions!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
