The Sunday Summary
📖 Financial beliefs, 💇🏼 mens style and 🎒 bum bags
Hey , welcome back to The Sunday Summary a collection of insights and my behind the scenes from the past week.
I’m currently typing this St Gervais, France! First ski trip of the season for me, and another powerful reminder of the job benefits of being a London cabbie. Take time off when you want, especially during the quiet periods of the year, to do more of the stuff you love!
📖 What I’m reading
You know I love a good finance book! This has got me seriously thinking about my investments and long term beliefs around money. Maybe I’ve drunk too much of the compounding Kool-aid or the FIRE philosophy. We are always reminded that “past performance does not equal future results” but how many take the time to really assess that you aren’t just imitating the past. I’m certainly guilty and this book has provided an honest and frank conversation around my financial position. Thank you Rob for providing me with a copy of this!
📺 What I’m watching
I love watching Street Styled, beautiful cinematography. Genuine presentation and enthusiasm for the subject. Driving around London and seeing different men’s style in this way. And although basic in my wardrobe choices, it’s something I’m slowly working on! This just helps understand the individual pieces.
📺🎤 A TED talk I’m revisiting
Often it’s the small and seemingly insignificant interactions that bolster customer reputation and loyalty. Sutherland doesn’t have a word for it, but examples include; a basic elevator that instead of floors have genres of lift music or cute aviation salt and pepper pots that reveal “stolen from Virgin Upper Class” on the underside.
🎙️ A travel hack
No longer for obnoxious American tourist. The bum bag is a hugely practical item! yFood were kind enough to send me a Christmas hamper (thank you!) that included one of these, which I’ve styled as a shoulder bag/man bag. It’s incredibly practical at the airport (all your pocket items live here, so it makes security a breeze). Or when you’re sat on the plane, rather than having to awkward pick at your pockets to get items out, they are instantly on hand! I haven’t got a specific product to recommend, but if I was to buy another this would be perfect. The hidden pocket has been great for cash/travel money.
📺 No upload this week
My Christmas shift is nearly finished and ready for you!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to reach out to me with your; comments, concerns or just general conversation. I'd love to know what you're up to or what you might be working on!
Have a great week!
