TSS - 💺 Free cabin upgrade, 📋 To-Do lists, and 🏰 Medieval London

The Sunday Summary

Hey everyone, and welcome back to the Sunday summary!

I’m writing this from New York City 🏢 🚕, I’m doing one of those bucket list ideas that’s been rattling around in my YouTube list for ages. How do New York taxis work? what do they cost? How does the airport fixed fares work? What challenges do they face.
I’m also going to attempt driving this crazy grid, as well as hitting up all the food spots that the drivers recommend! Wish me luck

This weeks Sunday summary is mainly the activities and content I binged on the plane

✈️ My first time in premium economy

BA Cabin Upgrade voucher
I’m fairly tight and resourceful, so paying for an upgrade is a huge step for me.
or… what I actually did, was use my credit card rewards!
This feels so satisfying to pull off, but using a Barclaycard Avios card if you have over £20k of purchases in a given year (as I use it for taxi repairs, fuel, and personal purchases that’s fairly easy to do), you get a cabin cabin upgrade free of charge (so economy to premium, or premium to business etc). It’s a little bit of faff to find the accepted flights (I used Reward Flight Finder), but certainly worth the effort.
None of this is sponsored, just a nice bonus that is good to receive.

📋 The one app I can’t live without

Things - To-Do List App for Mac & iOS
One of my favourite plane activities is sorting out my gargantuan lists of lists, (usually to music, but I had limited choices, see below).
I run my life and work off this app, I love it. Sub folders, notes, recurring reminders. My life could not function without this one app. Perfect combo of being simple but powerful.

📺 YouTube videos I’ve been loving

What Medieval London Really Looked Like (AI Reconstruction)
I started watching this scepticism, thinking “oh that hardly looks accurate”, but as the video unfolded it made me realise the point of it all. Not to be 100% accurate but to provide a much better insight to how London operated. This video really brings to life how those streets would have felt and operated.

How Back to the Future Uses Perfect Blocking to Tell the Story
This is the kind of content I wish I had back in film school! Films like this have a real hidden charm, and it’s this kind of break down that unpacks that feeling!

My new favourite YouTube channel
Speeed
This is golden. Throws out the YouTube playbook of needing to niche down. Rather than a topic or area of expertise, I feel like this is an actual channel designed for an audience rather than topic. It shows as he’s getting huge views on a variety of non related topics. Great aesthetics and style also!

🎧 On heavy rotation

King of Rock - Run DMC
My phone decided to remove all of my downloaded tracks. Somehow leaving me with just 2 Run DMC tracks (It’s Like That, being the other one). So this quite literally was on heavy rotation

Have a great week, I can’t wait to share everything from this trip!
