Hey everyone, and welcome back!

City of London 22nd Inter-livery Pancake Race

Guildhall Yard was once the site of Roman gladiators.
Now it’s me in a suit, pan in hand, fumbling breakfast.

Representing The Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, I ran in the Liveryman category. Qualified for the final, (genuinely proud of). Silvi Oliveira representing the master of the company also qualified for the final
Then in the final… I dropped the pancake.

Just completely lost it.

Out of roughly 38 livery companies that entered across the races, I finished 5th. Which is respectable. But it’s hard to feel dignified when your carbohydrate hits the floor in front of a packed Guildhall yard!

This week I worked a day at Heathrow, but alongside my cab chat co-host Jamie Owens. We probably picked the worst week (school holidays), with feeder park wait times extending over 4 hours! Followed by a bit of bad luck. Really interesting experiment to see how the same circumstances at Heathrow can go either way!

24 minutes of pure taxi gold. How did the London taxi trade react to the introduction of minicabs in London?
Over 60 years later, and we have echoes of this with “driverless taxis”. Very reassuring to know that there’s been plenty of threats to the taxi trade, but we’ve always overcome (and always will!)

I’ve watched a lot of content on these digital detoxes. But Tom Davies really breaks this down for real. Forecasting what apps he can replace and apps that he’ll have to make do without. I really love the turning point where he feels as though his days are longer! Powerful stuff!

No long form this week, but I’m paying more attention to Instagram and TikTok.
I used to be quite snobbish to these socials but recently paying attention to the role they play in how people consume and interact with creators.
