Some fascinating insight in this one. Already familiar with the concept of introducing novelty to make your weeks more exciting and memorable, which makes time appear slower.

This week I also listened to a 2018 Joe Rogan episode with Jesse Itzler, and a prominent moment stood out for me.

Itzler: “And routines are great, but routines can also be a rut. You can't get better in a routine. And if you get so, when you're in a routine, time goes fast. When you're out of your routine, time goes slow.”

This hit so hard. I’m forever running out of time, or trying to cram more into my working sessions. But it’s the new and novel, or “out of routine” stuff that expands time. I’m always surprised that a 20 minute walk, or running an errand that isn’t routine, doesn’t affect my productivity, despite having a huge amount of resistance to the idea, and that doing something out of routine will be too much of a burden on my time. When in fact, it actually creates time!
